Caroline Margaret McWilliams was born on April 4, 1945, in Seattle, Washington. She grew up in a creative environment, with both her parents being involved in the arts. Her father, John McWilliams, was a playwright and television writer, while her mother, Kathryn Scott, was an actress. This exposure to the entertainment industry fueled Caroline’s love for acting from a young age. She attended the University of Washington, where she studied drama and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. Caroline’s acting career began in the late 1960s, with small roles in television shows such as Mannix and Ironside. However, her breakthrough came in 1975 when she landed the role of Janet Blake on the hit medical drama Days of Our Lives. Her portrayal of the character, a feisty nurse, garnered her critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. She remained on the show until 1980, becoming one of its most beloved characters. After leaving Days of Our Lives, Caroline continued to work steadily in both television and film. She appeared in popular shows like Knight Rider, Crazy Like a Fox, and Remington Steele. Her versatility as an actress allowed her to effortlessly move between drama and comedy, and she quickly became a sought-after talent in Hollywood. In addition to her television work, Caroline also appeared in notable films such as Perfect and Mermaids. In the late 1980s, Caroline’s career took a different turn when she segued into directing. Sadly, on February 11, 2010, Caroline passed away at the age of 64 due to complications from multiple myeloma.
