Matthew Gray Gubler is an American actor, director, and model, best known for his role as Dr. Spencer Reid on the hit TV show Criminal Minds. He was born on March 9, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gubler developed an interest in acting at a young age and attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts. After completing high school, he enrolled at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he majored in film directing. During his time at NYU, Gubler had various internships and also modeled for high-end fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, and American Eagle. It was his modeling career that caught the attention of a prominent casting agent, who invited him to audition for the role of Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds. Gubler’s portrayal of the socially awkward yet brilliant FBI profiler quickly gained him a dedicated fanbase, and he became one of the show’s most beloved characters.
