Ben McKenzie is an American actor, born on September 12, 1978, in Austin, Texas. He rose to fame for his role as Ryan Atwood on the hit television series The O.C. (2003-2007). After completing his education, McKenzie moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. He attended the University of Virginia, where he studied economics and foreign affairs. However, his passion for the performing arts led him to switch gears and enroll in the prestigious drama program at New York University. In 2003, McKenzie landed his breakthrough role as Ryan Atwood, a troubled teenager from Chino, on The O.C. The series became a massive success and turned McKenzie into a household name. His portrayal of Ryan Atwood, a brooding and complex character, earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. Following the conclusion of The O.C., McKenzie continued to work in television, frequently appearing in crime dramas and police procedurals. In 2008, he joined the cast of the critically acclaimed series Southland, where he played the role of Officer Ben Sherman. The show garnered praise for its gritty portrayal of the Los Angeles Police Department and ran for five seasons.
