Biography

Clark Gable, born on February 1, 1901, in Cadiz, Ohio, was an iconic American actor. He rose to fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood and became known for his rugged masculinity and charismatic presence. Gable began his acting career in the theater but quickly transitioned to the film industry in the early 1930s. His breakthrough role came in 1934 when he starred in the romantic comedy It Happened One Night, winning him his first Academy Award for Best Actor. From then on, Gable became one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men. Perhaps his most memorable role came in 1939 when he portrayed Rhett Butler in the epic historical romance film Gone with the Wind. Gable’s portrayal of the dashing and roguish Butler earned him critical acclaim, and the film became a massive success, solidifying his status as a Hollywood legend. Throughout his career, Gable starred in numerous successful films, including Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and The Misfits (1961). He often played the role of a strong and confident hero, capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide. With his charming smile and classic good looks, he became known as the King of Hollywood. Gable’s personal life was also a topic of public interest. He had a reputation as a ladies’ man and was married five times. His most famous marriage was to actress Carole Lombard, whom he married in 1939. Their relationship was cut tragically short when Lombard died in a plane crash in 1942.
