Smith is best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the popular band Tears For Fears. During the 1980s, the band achieved massive success with their unique blend of synth-pop and new wave music, making them one of the most successful acts of the decade. Despite their initial breakup in the early ’90s, Smith continued to pursue a successful solo career.
Smith’s journey in the music industry began when he formed the band Graduate in the late 1970s. It was during this time that he met Roland Orzabal, who would become his bandmate in Tears For Fears.
