Biography
Daughter is an English indie folk band formed in 2010. The trio consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Elena Tonra, guitarist Igor Haefeli, and drummer Remi Aguilella. Daughter gained popularity after the release of their debut album, If You Leave, in 2013. Elena Tonra was born on January 15, 1990, in Northwood, London. She discovered her love for music at a young age and began writing songs and playing the guitar during her teenage years. After meeting guitarist Igor Haefeli in college, the duo started making music together and eventually formed Daughter. Drummer Remi Aguilella later joined the band, completing their unique sound. Known for their haunting lyrics and melancholic melodies, Daughter’s music often explores themes of loss, love, and introspection. Their honest and emotionally charged songs have resonated with audiences worldwide. Their debut album, If You Leave, received critical acclaim and earned them a devoted fanbase. In 2016, Daughter released their second studio album, Not to Disappear, further establishing their signature sound.
