Jack White, born as John Anthony Gillis on July 9, 1975, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the now-disbanded rock duo, The White Stripes. White grew up in Detroit, Michigan, in a working-class family. He developed a passion for music early on, learning to play the drums and guitar at a young age. In the late 1990s, he formed The White Stripes with his then-wife, Meg White. The band’s raw and minimalist approach to rock music gained them critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.
