Lesley Gore was an American singer, songwriter, and actress, born on May 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. She rose to fame in the 1960s as a teenage sensation with her hit songs that became anthems of the era. Gore’s vibrant and soulful voice, coupled with her undeniable talent as a songwriter, made her a beloved figure in the music industry. Gore’s breakthrough came in 1963 when she released the chart-topping single It’s My Party at the age of just sixteen. The song became an instant hit and showcased her ability to convey raw emotion through her powerful vocals. This success was followed by several other hits, including Judy’s Turn to Cry, She’s a Fool, and You Don’t Own Me, the latter becoming a feminist anthem and a signature song for Gore.
