Biography
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American professional dancer, choreographer, and television personality. He was born on January 17, 1980, in Odessa, Ukraine. Maksim discovered his passion for dance at a young age and began taking classes in various dance styles, including ballroom, Latin, and contemporary. In 1994, Maksim moved to the United States with his family, settling in Brooklyn, New York. He continued to pursue his dancing career and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and charisma. Maksim and his younger brother, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, formed a dynamic duo, gracing the dance floor together and winning numerous competitions. Maksim’s breakthrough came when he joined the popular reality TV show Dancing with the Stars in its second season in 2006. His electrifying performances and undeniable chemistry with his celebrity partners made him a fan favorite. Maksim went on to compete and win the show’s Mirrorball Trophy in its eighteenth season, alongside Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. Alongside his success on Dancing with the Stars, Maksim has also made appearances on other television shows, including The Wendy Williams Show, Good Morning America, and Live with Kelly and Ryan. He has expanded his career beyond dancing by choreographing for various stage productions and music videos.
