Michael Douglas is an acclaimed American actor and film producer, born on September 25, 1944, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He hails from a prestigious Hollywood family, being the son of legendary actor Kirk Douglas and actress Diana Dill. Douglas began his acting career in the late 1960s, initially in theater before transitioning to television and films. He gained recognition for his role as Inspector Steve Keller in the television series The Streets of San Francisco (1972-1976), which earned him widespread popularity and critical acclaim. In the 1980s, Douglas delivered some of his most iconic performances, including his portrayal of ruthless corporate raider Gordon Gekko in the film Wall Street (1987). This role earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor, solidifying his place as one of Hollywood’s leading men.
