Biography
Olivia Hamilton is an American actress and producer born on May 29, 1982, in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her collaboration with her husband, filmmaker Damien Chazelle. Hamilton initially started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress, appearing in a few television shows and independent films. In 2014, Hamilton co-produced the critically acclaimed musical drama film Whiplash, directed by Chazelle. The movie went on to receive several awards and nominations, including five Academy Award nominations, and won three, including Best Supporting Actor for J.K. Simmons. Hamilton’s career took a significant turn when she played a small role in Damien Chazelle’s 2016 musical film La La Land. The movie turned out to be a massive success, receiving a record-breaking 14 Oscar nominations and winning six, including Best Director for Chazelle. It was during the production of La La Land that Hamilton and Chazelle fell in love and eventually got married in 2018. Since then, Olivia Hamilton has worked as a producer in all of Damien Chazelle’s projects. In 2018, she co-produced the biographical drama film First Man, starring Ryan Gosling. The movie received critical acclaim and was nominated for four Academy Awards. Hamilton has not limited herself to just producing movies with her husband. In 2019, she produced the romantic drama film Captive State, directed by Rupert Wyatt. The movie garnered mixed reviews but showcased Hamilton’s ability to work on diverse projects outside her collaborations with Chazelle.
