Patrick Dempsey is an American actor and race car driver, best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit television series Grey’s Anatomy. Born on January 13, 1966, in Lewiston, Maine, Dempsey had a passion for acting from a young age and started his acting career in the 1980s. Dempsey’s breakthrough role came in 1987 when he portrayed the charming and geeky Ronald Miller in the teen comedy film Can’t Buy Me Love. The film’s success catapulted him to fame, and he quickly established himself as a heartthrob in Hollywood.
