Patrick Stewart is an English actor and producer, best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was born on July 13, 1940, in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, England. Stewart began his acting career on the stage, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) during the 1960s and 1970s. His notable performances in Shakespearean plays, such as Hamlet and Macbeth, brought him critical acclaim and established him as a prominent stage actor. In 1987, Stewart’s career took a major turn when he was cast as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation. His portrayal of the thoughtful and commanding Starfleet captain endeared him to audiences worldwide, and he played the role for seven seasons.
