Biography
Ricky Martin, born on December 24, 1971, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a renowned international singer, actor, and author. He first gained fame as a member of the 1990s boy band, Menudo, before forging a successful solo career. Growing up in a musically inclined family, Martin began his singing career at a young age, performing in commercials and theater productions. His breakthrough came with the release of his self-titled debut album in 1991, which included the hit singles Fuego Contra Fuego and El Amor de Mi Vida. However, it was his 1999 single Livin’ la Vida Loca that catapulted Ricky Martin to global superstardom. The catchy, upbeat song topped charts around the world and made Martin an international sensation. Building on this success, he released his first English-language album, also titled Ricky Martin, which included another hit single, She Bangs. Aside from his musical achievements, Ricky Martin is known for his humanitarian work and activism. He has been an active supporter of various causes, including children’s rights, education, and combating human trafficking. In 2010, Martin publicly came out as gay, becoming a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. In addition to his music career, Martin has also dabbled in acting. He made his Broadway debut in 1996 in the musical Les Miserables and later starred in the TV series General Hospital and the Broadway revival of Evita.
