Sherry Stringfield is an American actress, best known for her role as Dr. Susan Lewis on the hit medical drama series, ER. She was born on June 24, 1967, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Stringfield began her acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in various television shows and made-for-TV movies. However, it was her role in ER that catapulted her into stardom. She portrayed Dr. Lewis, a compassionate and dedicated emergency room physician, from 1994 to 1996 and later returned for guest appearances in 2001 and 2005. Her performance on the show earned her critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. After leaving ER initially, Stringfield took a break from acting to focus on her personal life. In 1998, she made a brief return to television with a starring role in the crime drama series, The Profiler. She also appeared in a few independent films during this time. In 2001, Stringfield once again reprised her role as Dr. Susan Lewis on ER, much to the delight of fans. She continued to make guest appearances on the show until its final season in 2009. Her portrayal of Dr. Lewis remains one of the show’s most beloved characters. Following the conclusion of ER, Stringfield appeared in several television shows, including Under the Dome and Criminal Minds.
