Tessa Thompson is an American actress and musician, best known for her roles in popular films and television shows. She was born on October 3, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Thompson had a multicultural upbringing, as her father is of Afro-Panamanian descent and her mother is of Mexican and European ancestry. Her parents were both involved in the entertainment industry, which inspired her to pursue a career in acting. She made her acting debut in 2005 with a guest role in the television series Cold Case. She then gained recognition for her role as Jackie Cook in the television series Veronica Mars.
