Biography
The Cardigans are a Swedish alternative rock band formed in 1992 in Jonkoping. The band consists of members Nina Persson (vocals), Peter Svensson (guitar), Magnus Sveningsson (bass), Bengt Lagerberg (drums), and Lars-Olof Johansson (keyboard). The Cardigans gained international fame with their breakthrough album First Band on the Moon released in 1996. The album featured their biggest hit, Lovefool, which reached the top of the charts in several countries. Known for their distinctive sound blending pop, rock, and indie influences, The Cardigans quickly became known for their catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and Persson’s enchanting vocals. Following the success of Lovefool, The Cardigans continued to release critically acclaimed albums such as Gran Turismo (1998) and Long Gone Before Daylight (2003). Each album showcased the band’s musical versatility, exploring new styles and experimenting with different sounds. Despite their success, The Cardigans faced a hiatus in 2006, as members pursued individual projects and personal endeavors.
