Following his graduation, he briefly worked in various odd jobs before delving into acting full-time. His breakthrough role came in 1999 when he portrayed Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson. This role propelled Mortensen to worldwide fame and established him as a reliable and talented actor.
