Biography

Whitney Houston was an American singer, actress, and model, born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest vocalists of all time and is known for her powerful and soulful voice. Houston began her singing career at a young age, singing in church choirs and becoming involved in the local music scene. She was discovered by record executive Clive Davis and signed to Arista Records in the early 1980s. Her self-titled debut album, released in 1985, became a massive success, spawning hit singles such as Saving All My Love for You and Greatest Love of All. Throughout her career, Houston released several more successful albums and achieved numerous chart-topping singles. Her music spanned various genres, including pop, R&B, and gospel, and she sold over 200 million records worldwide. Some of her most notable songs include I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and How Will I Know. In addition to her musical achievements, Houston also ventured into acting. She starred in the critically acclaimed film The Bodyguard alongside Kevin Costner, where she also recorded the iconic soundtrack that included the record-breaking rendition of I Will Always Love You. Houston appeared in several other films, including Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher’s Wife. Despite her immense talent and success, Houston faced personal struggles throughout her life. She battled with drug addiction, which affected her career and personal relationships. Tragically, Houston passed away on February 11, 2012, at the age of 48, due to accidental drowning in her hotel room bathtub, with heart disease and drug use as contributing factors. Whitney Houston’s groundbreaking vocal ability, stage presence, and memorable songs continue to inspire and influence artists to this day. She left behind a lasting legacy as one of the most accomplished and influential singers in the history of popular music.
