Willard Carroll Smith Jr., professionally known as Will Smith, is an American actor, producer, and rapper. Born on September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Smith began his career as a rapper in the late 1980s under the name The Fresh Prince. In 1990, Smith rose to prominence as the lead actor in the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran for six successful seasons. This role catapulted him into stardom and allowed him to showcase his natural comedic talent. Despite his success on the small screen, Smith yearned for a career in the film industry. Smith’s breakthrough in film came in 1993 with the action-comedy Bad Boys, where he played the lead alongside Martin Lawrence. The film’s success paved the way for Smith to establish himself as a bankable movie star. He continued his streak of box office hits with films like Men in Black, Independence Day, and Hancock. Throughout his career, Smith has achieved critical acclaim and has been nominated for numerous awards, including two Academy Awards.
