Biography
Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz on September 8, 1987, in Minot, North Dakota, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Known for his laid-back demeanor and catchy, melodic hooks, Khalifa has established himself as one of the most influential figures in the hip-hop industry. Khalifa’s passion for music developed at a young age, and by his teenage years, he was already recording and releasing mixtapes. It was his mixtape, Kush and Orange Juice, released in 2010, that gained him significant attention and catapulted him to mainstream success. The mixtape’s hit single, Black and Yellow, became an anthem for his hometown’s football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and earned him a Grammy nomination. In 2011, Khalifa released his debut studio album, Rolling Papers, which featured popular tracks like Roll Up and No Sleep. The album received commercial success and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Since then, he has released several acclaimed albums, including Blacc Hollywood (2014) and Khalifa (2016), showcasing his versatility as an artist and further cementing his place in the music industry. Apart from his solo career, Khalifa is known for his collaborations with various artists, such as Snoop Dogg, Juicy J, and Charlie Puth. One of his biggest hits to date is the collaboration with Puth on the song See You Again, which became the theme song for the movie Furious 7. The track topped the charts in numerous countries and earned Khalifa three Grammy nominations. While known for his musical talents, Khalifa has also ventured into other creative endeavors. He has his own record label, Taylor Gang Entertainment, and has dabbled in acting, appearing in films like Mac & Devin Go to High School and Gangster Squad. Outside of his professional success, Khalifa is also recognized for his personal life. He has a son named Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, affectionately known as Bash, with model and actress Amber Rose.
