Bruce Campbell is an American actor, producer, and writer. He was born on June 22, 1958, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Campbell is best known for his iconic role as Ash Williams in the Evil Dead franchise directed by Sam Raimi. Campbell’s passion for acting began at an early age, participating in school plays and community theater. He attended Western Michigan University, where he majored in theater and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Campbell’s breakthrough came in 1981 when he starred in the horror film The Evil Dead, directed by his close friend, Sam Raimi. The movie gained a cult following and spawned two sequels: Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness.
