Biography

Burt Lancaster, born on November 2, 1913, in Manhattan, New York, was an iconic American actor and film producer. With his rugged good looks and athletic physique, Lancaster became one of Hollywood’s most prominent leading men during the mid-20th century. Lancaster started his career as a circus acrobat, but after suffering an injury, he turned his attention towards acting. He made his film debut in the 1946 film The Killers, which garnered him critical acclaim and launched his successful career. Known for his versatility, Lancaster showcased his acting prowess through a wide range of roles, ranging from westerns to dramas to film noirs. One of Lancaster’s most memorable performances came in 1953’s From Here to Eternity, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He solidified his status as a top actor with remarkable portrayals in films such as Elmer Gantry, Birdman of Alcatraz, and Judgment at Nuremberg.
