Fontaine’s parents divorced early in her life, and she and her older sister, Olivia de Havilland, were raised separately by their mother. In her teenage years, Fontaine attended drama school in California and made her debut on Broadway in 1935. However, she soon transitioned to the silver screen and began her successful career in Hollywood. Fontaine gained recognition for her talent and stunning beauty, which led to her starring in several notable films. In addition to her acting accomplishments, Fontaine was also known for her tumultuous personal life. She married and divorced several times, including her marriages to actor Brian Aherne and producer William Dozier.
