Katey Sagal is an American actress and singer, known for her versatile and commanding performances on both television and in music. She was born on January 19, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. Sagal’s passion for entertainment was nurtured from an early age, as her father Boris Sagal was a notable film and television director, while her mother Sara Zwilling was a singer and government secretary. Katey initially followed in her mother’s footsteps and pursued a career in singing, performing in various nightclubs and music festivals. She also worked briefly as a backup singer for Bob Dylan and played the role of a fictional character’s mother on his Rolling Thunder Revue tour. However, it was in the acting world where Sagal truly made her mark. In the late 1980s, she gained recognition for her memorable role as Peggy Bundy, the vibrant and hilarious wife of Al Bundy, in the hit sitcom Married… with Children. This iconic portrayal showcased Sagal’s comedic timing and brought her widespread fame. Despite her success on the small screen, Sagal’s talents were not limited to comedy. In 2002, she took on the challenging role of Gemma Teller Morrow in the critically acclaimed TV drama Sons of Anarchy.
