Biography
Mindy Kaling is an American actress, comedian, writer, and television producer. Born on June 24, 1979, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kaling’s real name is Vera Mindy Chokalingam. She is best known for her role as Kelly Kapoor in the acclaimed television series The Office, where she also served as a writer, executive producer, and director. Kaling’s parents immigrated to the United States from India, and she grew up in a diverse household with her two siblings. She attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols, a prestigious private school, before studying playwriting at Dartmouth College. After college, Kaling moved to New York City and worked as an intern on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. She landed her breakthrough role on The Office in 2005 and became a prominent member of the show’s cast for its nine-season run. In addition to her successful television career, Kaling has made notable appearances in films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, No Strings Attached, and A Wrinkle in Time. She also created and starred in her own sitcom, The Mindy Project, which aired from 2012 to 2017. Kaling’s unique and witty sense of humor has also led her to write multiple successful books.
