Peter Doherty is an English musician, songwriter, and poet, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the indie rock band The Libertines. He was born on March 12, 1979, in Hexham, Northumberland, England. Doherty’s passion for music began at an early age. He started playing guitar as a teenager and formed several bands, honing his songwriting skills and developing a unique sound. In the late 1990s, he co-founded The Libertines with his close friend Carl Barat, and the band quickly gained a devoted following in the London underground music scene. With The Libertines, Doherty released two critically acclaimed albums, Up the Bracket in 2002 and The Libertines in 2004.
