Biography
The Script is an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist and keyboardist Danny O’Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. They gained popularity with their unique fusion of rock and pop music, combined with heartfelt and relatable lyrics. Danny O’Donoghue, born on October 3, 1979, in Dublin, Ireland, began his musical journey at a young age. He learned to play the piano and guitar and had a passion for songwriting. In the late 90s, he joined the band MyTown, which achieved moderate success before disbanding. It was during his time with MyTown that Danny met Mark Sheehan, a guitarist and fellow songwriter. Mark, born on October 29, 1976, in Dublin, also had a deep love for music and had been playing guitar since childhood. The two quickly formed a close bond and started writing songs together. In 2001, Danny and Mark met Glen Power, a drummer who had been playing in various bands and had a reputation for his talent and energy. Glen, born on July 5, 1980, in Dublin, completed the trio that would become The Script. The band’s breakthrough came in 2008 when they released their debut album titled The Script. The album’s lead single, We Cry, became a hit, followed by other successful singles like The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and Breakeven. The album’s success earned them international recognition and allowed them to tour extensively. Over the years, The Script has released several other successful albums, including Science & Faith (2010), No Sound Without Silence (2014), and Freedom Child (2017). They have sold millions of records worldwide and have a dedicated fanbase that resonates with their honest and emotionally charged music. Aside from their own musical endeavors, the members of The Script have also collaborated with other artists. Danny served as a coach on the UK version of the TV show The Voice and collaborated with artists like will.i.am on the hit single Hall of Fame. Mark and Glen have also been involved in various side projects and collaborations.
