Biography

Romola Sadie Garai, commonly known as Romola Garai, is a British film and television actress. She was born on August 6, 1982, in Hong Kong, to a British father and Hong Konger father. Garai’s family moved to Singapore when she was a child and later settled in Wiltshire, England. Garai showed an interest in acting from an early age and attended the prestigious City of London School for Girls, where she participated in school theater productions. Her passion for acting led her to enroll at the National Youth Theatre and subsequently at London’s renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Garai made her screen debut in 2000 with a small role in the film The Last of the Blonde Bombshells. Her breakthrough came a year later when she landed the lead role in the critically acclaimed television series Attachments, portraying an ambitious young journalist. This role showcased her potential as a versatile and talented actress. In the following years, Garai gained recognition for versatile performances in various movies such as I Capture the Castle (2003), Vanity Fair (2004), and Atonement (2007).
